April symposium scheduled

On Friday, April 11, the Federal Courts Law Review is sponsoring a symposium at the Charleston Museum on Privacy in the Federal Courts. The keynote speaker will be Professor Arthur Miller of New York University School of Law. Scholarly panels will address topical privacy-related issues including the new federal rule 5.2, access to court records, litigating under a pseudonym, the secrecy of settlements, and juror privacy, in addition to issues arising from the relationship between new technology and government subpoenas and warrants. There will be a number of local and national privacy scholars and federal judges participating.

New issue available

A new hard-copy issue of 2006 and 2007 articles from the Federal Courts Law Review is now available. The review, published online since 1997 by the Federal Magistrate Judges Association, is a collaboration of the FMJA with students from the Charleston School of Law. To get your copy, click here.

Federal Courts Law Review

The Federal Courts Law Review (FCLR) is an electronic law review dedicated to legal scholarship relating to the federal courts. Published articles are written by scholars, judges and distinguished practitioners. The editorial board, composed primarily of United States Magistrate Judges and law school professors, uniquely combines the insight of the federal judiciary with the perspective of law school academics. The FCLR, founded in July 1997, is a publication of the Federal Magistrate Judges Association.

The Charleston School of Law was selected in August 2005 by the Federal Magistrate Judges Association to print the hard copy version of the FCLR. Members of the CSOL FCLR work with federal magistrate judges on FCLR's Editorial Board to finalize articles for both the online and hard copy versions, and will collaborate with the FCLR Editorial Board on future articles and symposia. CSOL FCLR members are chosen each year based on outstanding academic and writing ability.

VOLUME 1: The Federal Courts Law Review is pleased to announce the publication of Volume 1: A Compilation of Articles Published Electronically from 1998 to 2006. If you wish to purchase a subscription, please email us at fclr@charlestonlaw.org. With the subscription you will receive all forthcoming 2007 publications and a free copy of Volume 1.
